CTI Annual Forum

The CTI Annual Forum will provide input and advise to the overall strategic direction of the CTI, but will also address specific regional and thematic challenges related to ratification and implementation of the UNCAT and serve as a platform for identifying ways to provide coordinated and sustained support, in the form of legal and technical advice and assistance, for all UN Member States to ratify and implement the UN Convention against Torture.

First Annual CTI Forum, 3 September 2014, Chavannes-de-Bogis, Switzerland

The first annual CTI Forum was held on 3 September 2014 in Chavannes-de-Bogis outside Geneva bringing together high level government representatives of 18 countries from all regions of the world and leading UN experts to discuss solutions to Governments’ challenges in the fight against torture.

The Forum discussions focused on identifying not just the obstacles to ratification, but also to the practical implementation of the Convention, how governments can help each other to overcome these challenges, and on strategies to move the CTI forward.

Second Annual CTI Forum, 15 December 2015, Marrakech, Morocco

The second annual CTI Forum was held as a closed session during a regional meeting for MENA states which took place in Marrakech, Morocco, on 14 and 15 December.
