UNCAT non-States parties to discuss ratification opportunities

Fes, Morocco - 1 November 2017

As a follow-on meeting to the CTI seminar on administration of justice and law enforcement in Fes, Morocco, on 30-31 October, the CTI will hold a closed session with a number of invited States that are not yet party to the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (UNCAT), on 1 November 2017.

The aim of the half-day closed meeting is to discuss benefits of ratifying the Convention and some of the challenges the invited States may be facing on the road towards ratification. Furthermore, discussions on how the CTI and partners may help to overcome obstacles and support the Governments to ratify will take place.

The meeting is by invitation only.
