Support for the CTI grows as more states join the Group of Friends

Geneva, November 2015 – With Macedonia (former Yugoslav Republic of) and Bosnia and Herzegovina joining the Initiative’s Group of Friends, the CTI enjoys increased support as the group reaches 31 members.

CTI welcomes two new UN Member States to the Group of Friends: Macedonia (former Yugoslav Republic of) and Bosnia and Herzegovina bringing the number of members to 31. With this addition, CTI is pleased to note that the representation of Eastern European states in the Group is increasing underscoring the importance the region attaches to the Convention and to the issue of torture prevention. The CTI looks forward to working with the two states alongside the other 29 members of the CTI Group of Friends on making universal ratification and more effective implementation of UNCAT a reality by 2024.
