Geneva, 7 October – Following the visit by a Myanmar delegation to Geneva in May 2015, the Government of Myanmar has confirmed that it will join the CTI Group of Friends.

The CTI hosted a delegation from the Myanmar Government to Geneva to learn more about the Convention. The week-long programme included seminars on the Convention tailored specifically to Myanmar and meetings with senior UN officials and senior officials from states that have recently had experience of the ratification process. Following the visit, Myanmar has now confirmed that they will join the CTI Group of Friends. CTI welcomes Myanmar to the Group and look forward to working with them in the process ahead.
